I didn’t realize I had allergies this bad

I didn’t realize I had allergies this bad. When I arrived on Monday, I was feeling fine. As the day wore on, however, I noticed my sinuses were really starting to act up. The stuffiness, runny nose and sneezing was progressively getting worse. I tried to keep a positive attitude about it and shake it off, but it was difficult. “Hopefully by tomorrow, I’ll feel better.” I thought to myself.

It’s Tuesday and actually feel worse. I have to get something to fix this. After getting up, and getting ready for the day, I head to the convenience store and purchased some Allegra. “Hopefully this does it,” I think to myself. It took a while, but I felt some relief, not much but some. “Whatever, I’ll take what I can get,” is all I could think. “Wow! It’s been less than two hours later since I took the Allegra and feel like I did when I woke up. What happened to the twenty-four hour relief it promised?” By this time, I was at the yard getting into the truck to get my gear. I was sneezing, constantly blowing my nose, and just felt overall tired.

“I’ll be back,” I told my friends. “I have to get some allergy medicine.”

“Yeah, Dude, you probably have covid. Stay away from us,” they jested

“Haha, funny,” I replied as I walked to my vehicle.

I went to the Walgreens and walked straight back to the pharmacist.

“Excuse me, can you please help me find the strongest allergy medicine you have? I’ve tried Allegra and Zyrtec and they don’t work,” I said to the pharmacist.

Yes I also tried Zyrtec at some point before I came to the pharmacist. It didn’t work either.

“You’re really just going to have to try different ones until you find one that works,” she replied.

“Okay, thank you, ” I replied.

I head to the allergy medicine aisle and picked up a box of Benadryl and nasal solution to clean out my nose. The solution provided some relief. “I’m going to take some Benadryl just in case.”

By the time I got back to my room, it was 5 o’clock and I was feeling drowsy. “Uggh! I forgot one of the side effects of Benadryl is drowsiness.” No matter how much I fought it, I just couldn’t shake the drowsiness. I managed to sort through my gear and set up my Tenkara rod with a nymph setup, but it was too much to continue. It’s time for bed.

It’s 530am on Wednesday morning and I feel, well, like doodoo. I’m frustrated and exhausted, but I’m going to try and not let it ruin my day. I’m going to go get some Afrin. Did you know people become addicted to Afrin? I didn’t either, but it appears to be a thing. I don’t care. I’m going to roll the dice, because feeling like this just won’t do.
