musings of an outdoorsman

Thank God it’s Friday

Since I’ve been here, not once have I said “Thank God it’s Friday.” Today, however, yep I said it. Above that, Thank God I only have one more week left. Next Friday can’t get here soon enough.

This past week of crew transition has been nothing short of a disaster. Working with an all new truck and gear has been tough and mired in small metaphoric fires. The new boss, and understandably so, has his way of using gear. With our old boss, we had a wireless data network that could control gear. It worked great, honestly. Our new boss, however, is not a fan of wireless. He’s hyper cautious of wireless interference. I can appreciate that. One would think it’s a no-brainer and easier. And while it should be, it’s been far from it. One of the problems is not having data points in places we move equipment to, so it’s a scramble to run data over to that point. The other problem has been one of the other crews has kicked us down a couple of guys to help us during the transition phase. Well, let’s just say it’s been more of a handicap than help. And between both issues it has compounded the problems.

So what the hell does any of this have to do with the outdoors? Nothing, not a damn thing, but you know sometimes I just need to vent. And, today is Friday. Tomorrow is Saturday, which means I can go fishing and enjoy my last weekend in the Bitterroot before I leave. Beside, I wanted to post the picture I shot today of fly fish floaters going down the Bitterroot, haha
