musings of an outdoorsman

Lots of Rain and Rising River

Here I am sitting under a pop-up tent. Oh, nothing, just raining… Again! I wanted to hit up the river this weekend, but as usual on the weekends, rain. In fact, it’s supposed to rain for four days.

I strolled down to the creek here at the ranch. Already the creek has risen and keeps rising. Forget about the water quality. Let’s just call it what it is, “a chocolate milkshake.” All I can do is chuckle.

At least the soft patter of rain on the pop-up is soothing. It’s nice to just look out over the open field and see the rain come down.

June 11. 2020:

“Man, I’m tired this morning.” We had another long day and night yesterday. I didn’t get home until well past 1am. And as much as I’d like to stay in bed, I need to go into town.

“Wow! for it being such a rainy day, there sure are a lot of cars here at Murdoch’s.” I thought of driving to Missoula and just enjoy the drive, but what the hell, this place is so much closer, and I’d really like to just get it done. I walked into Murdoch’s and was immediately greeted with the memories of the last time I was here back in 2020. There is just something nice about this place. Clearly, I’m not the only one who thinks that. There are a lot of people here.

I walked over to the belt section. My current belt is just not holding up to the weight of my holster and pistol. I need a beefier, sturdier belt. My Glock G21 is not the lightest pistol, but I do love it.

My drive back to Darby was uneventful, aside from the constant rain, which today, for whatever reason, I’m okay with. I did stop at Wally Crawford fishing access site (picture above) to check the water level of the Bitterroot. “Damn It’s flowing fast and is really high.” There’s no way I’m fishing this weekend. Hmmm! Maybe I’ll fish Amazon and see what I catch.
